Gladys Marion Johnson, age 92, of Great Cacapon, WV, died on Friday, November 16, 2012 at War Memorial Hospital.
Born September 4 1920 in Prattsville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Van Tassel and May Rose Tompkins Buel.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Great Cacapon. She attended Gilboa Central High School in Gilboa, NY. She worked as a housekeeper at Hillsborough County Nursing Home in Grasmere, NH and was a homemaker in recent years. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed crochet, embroidery, reading, word puzzles and gadening flowers.
Gladys is survived by four sons, Michael Robert Johnson of Great Cacapon, Walter Thomas Johnson of Goffstown, NH, Douglas Richard and Carl George Johnson both of Manchester, NH, one daughter, Esther Ruth “Essie” Upton of Goffstown, NH, one sister, Mildred May Harkness of Prattsville, NY, nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Adolf Johnson on August 26, 2006, one son, Edward Adolf Johnson, one daughter, Etta May Johnson, two sisters, Evelyn Tuttle and Virginia Hazel Rizzo, nine brothers, George B. Perry, Ross Andrew Buel, Shirley Eli, Buel, Gordon Eugene Perry, Charles Buel, Leonard Elwin Buel, Ronald Ernest Buel, Nelson Roger “Buster” Buel and Richard Edward Buel.
Funeral services and private interment will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Great Cacapon.
