Ray Steven Hewett, age 71, of Berkeley Springs, WV died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Winchester Medical Center.

Born November 2, 1941 in Berkeley Springs, WV, he was the son of the late Clarence Reed and Nettie Jane Michael Hewett.

He was a member of Love Assembly of God in Berkeley Springs, WV. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army. He retired from U.S. Silica in Berkeley Springs, WV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a New Orleans Saints fan since the late 1960’s. Ray was a member of Jr. Order U. A. M. Council #117, Alderton-Dawson Post # 60 American Legion and Berkeley Springs Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483.

Ray is survived by his wife Barbara E. Moss Hewett, two sons, Jamie Steven Hewett, Strasburg, Va and Shannon Reed Hewett, Hancock, MD, four sisters, Ruby Fields, McConnellsburg, PA, Jo Ann Werdebaugh , Summerfield, FL, Eva Little of Gladstone, MI, Sylvia Johnson , Wells, MI, two grandchildren, Koleman Hewett and Karragan Hewett and seven nephews and three nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hewett. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Love Assembly of God, 42 Buzzard Acres Lane, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411 with Pastor Dave Kidwell officiating. Burial will be in Highland Church Cemetery with military graveside rites by Tri-State Honor Guard. Family will receive friends Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411 and one hour prior to the services at the church. The Junior Order Lodge will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home at 7 PM.
